Today eu flag FnaticRC de flag Mauel "LaMia" Mildenberger has announced that he will be retiring from the professional League of Legends scene.

LaMia, one of the best AD carries in the world, has been considering leaving the professional scene ever since he visited Taiwan and met his girlfriend there. He has been looking for the right time to leave, and the opportunity finally presented itself at the end of Season 2.

This comes at the perfect time for both his team and himself as they will not be participating in the Season 2 finals. The timing also gives his former team plenty of time to get a new AD carry for Season 3.

FnaticRC has released a video as a tribute for LaMia to show their support of his decision and to wish him the best in his endeavors. LaMia will definitely be missed and we hope he has a good life outside of eSports.

Lamia's Statement

First of all I wanna say thanks to the guys and Harry, who have made the need of gaming almost every evening for more than one year for the purpose of practice less torture than it sounds like and our more than great offline experiences. Most have noticed that I have stopped playing recently and it is simply because I felt the need for a change in my life. I was not happy with gaming anymore - simply too much in the evening and afterall there is not really a day in the week where you are off. The competition doesn't stop either, you know. I felt like there was no better time to quit to make it as easy to the team as possible than the long months they have to prepare for the Season 3 qualifiers now and Campus Party Berlin was a great farewell where I could even Draven it up on stage :)

I'm going to a place I learned to love (Thank you Radcall) to study a language I really want to learn and this includes having to stop playing LoL (atleast in Europe - will still have some fun on the SEA servers :P) with the team.

I want to thank all the special people: Lauri "HEY!" Happonen, Enrique "Cojones" Martinez, Maciej "laaaaaamiiiiiii" Ratuszniak, Peter "Captain Obvious: You can't even read that!" Meisrimel, Max "MagicFingerFnaticFingersbutafteralljustaFART and the darkest of..." Dreysse, Harry "My Annie" Wigget, Paul "Soazzuuuuu" Boyer, Chris "pressure" Seitz, also, Arthur "Kathus... ehh, Arthus.." Sun and my biggest fan and bro: my bro! Also thanks to the whole Fnatic team and management who have been a great support to us and a really caring organization all the way.

See you in Taiwan :)

Cyanide's Statement

I'm very sad to see Lamia leave, but this time comes to all of us eventually, you can't be a pro-gamer forever. Lamia decided that it's his time to qui as he doesn't want to invest the time anymore in the future. I respect him for realising it beforehand and he never started to drag us down by underperforming because he was uneager to play. He is one of my oldest teammates with xPeke and I love him, but I always knew he wasn't a total nerd like the rest of us. I'm sad, but also happy to see that he is moving on to a brighter future.

I don't like when players leave esports. Did Fnatic ever had to replace Lamia? ;>

Best AD i've ever seen playing... just since Mellisan left there was no Supporter having the drive needed to be Lamias partner in lane. Too bad Fnatic always was my Favorite team because of Lamia + Mellisan and ofc xPeke! Think i have to cheer for M5 too now since they are the only ones with an acceptable playstyle!
