After teasing League of Legends fans for months, Major League Gaming have announced today that LoL will indeed be part of their 2012 Pro Circuit. The MLG Spring Championship will feature a $40,000 League of Legends tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center in June 8th-10th. 20 teams will participate in the event, 8 of them will be invited while the other 12 will have to earn their spot via an open qualifier for which teams will be able to sign up starting on April 30th.
More information about MLG Anaheim will be released in the coming weeks. League of Legends will also be present at the Summer and Fall Championships in August and November, respectively.
In 2011, LoL tournaments were held at two MLG events.
Counter Logic Gaming took first place at MLG Raleigh and
Team SoloMid were the winners of MLG Providence. Both previous events featured North American teams only and while details for MLG Anaheim's qualifiers were not given yet, we may expect a more diverse roster of teams this time.
