The guys over at Team Dignitas have taken the time to interview our very own shoutcaster, Christopher "Panky" Pankhurst! In the interview they discuss how he made the transition into shoutcasting League of Legends, his past experience and which emerging teams are currently the ones to keep an eye out for.
You may know Panky as the caster from the English stream of The Gamers Assembly 2012, various APL, 4PL and Go4LoL tournaments, as well as the Sennheiser "HeartoWin" Cup in Germany last month, which marked his first time casting at an offline event.
A preview of the interview can be found below; head over to team-dignitas.net to see the the interview in its entirety!
Thanks a lot for the interview, how is your social life aside from shoutcasting LoL?
Right now, it is slower than I'd like but we are right in the middle of my Uni assesment period, but most of my friends realize that this is more than just sitting in my room playing games and see it as a real job now.
How did you become a shoutcaster for League of Legends? Have you had any kind of experience in the past?
I started out casting SC2 but as I got bored with the game and started playing more and more League with my friends, I looked into the possibility of casting this. As there was no proper replay system or observer mode when I started, this was hard but I practiced talking to myself while watching streams.
Then once observer mode was released I started working with the CSL and their tournaments for some real game experience, before finally talking to a couple of the current CLG.eu members about sitting in their scrim sessions. They agreed that as long as I didn't stream to steal their viewers, I could record them and upload to Youtube. Then when Wetdream announced he was looking for casters I sent him one of my recordings and he liked it! That got me to here...
